This Piermont Cottage wedding was one for the books!

If you are not familiar with Old Edwards Inn, they have multiple wedding venue properties throughout Highlands, North Carolina. Piermont Cottage is one of my absolute favorite venues of theirs. It is the most perfectly quaint mountain venue in North Carolina. It has an adorable yellow cottage and a big grassy lawn for a sailcloth tent.

Devan and Drake hosted their intimate Highlands wedding here in October. Maready and Co Events beautifully planned it. When Devan, the bride, inquired about me photographing her wedding, she said she wanted me to focus primarily on getting candids. So I did just that!

This outdoor garden party wedding was one of my favorites to photograph. The relaxed atmosphere made it easy for me to get creative with the images.

At the end of their wedding ceremony, Devan requested that I follow her and Drake inside immediately to capture their first few moments of marriage. They did not have a first look, so it was their first time alone together on their wedding day. I love how authentic that moment was – it was filled with joy, laughter, and a few tears. After that, we took many candid (and a few posed) family and couple portraits. Then, the happy couple greeted their guests for cocktail hour.

During dinner, Devan and Drake’s fathers both gave incredible speeches. There was not a dry eye in the room! You could feel the love shared between everyone so greatly. It was beautiful to witness.

Finally, after dinner was complete, the couple welcomed everyone to join them on Piermont Cottage’s grassy green lawn to play croquet, to enjoy the fire-pit, and to dance the night away.
